Festschrift Online strives to provide a beautiful reading experience, on desktop computers, tablets, and mobile phones equally.

All content is encoded in the database in Unicode (utf8mb4) format, which allows full use of accented characters and emojis, and supports most commonly-used language character sets, including Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, Greek, etc. The WYSIWYG editor includes easy access special characters (in case you can't remember those special key combinations).

Our custom Style Switcher gives readers the ability to choose from different type and layout options, altering the font family, font size, line spacing, and column width. We even employ open-source fonts designed to increase legibility for dyslexic readers and others with reading difficulty.

Festschrift Online's strict adherence to accessibility standards means we retain legible font sizes, proper contrast ratios, required ALT text for images, and we attempt to replace straight quotes ("…") with their curly equivalents (“…”) for languages that use them.
